Our History

Rooted in Sherman since 1954.

Trinity’s first worship service was held on September 13, 1954, at the Chamber of Commerce building. The congregation was formally organized shortly after, on June 24, 1954, with thirty-one charter members.

Since then, Trinity has occupied three locations — in 1956, 1979, and 2000 — relocating and expanding each time to meet the needs of a growing community. Trinity is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Northern Texas–Northern Louisiana Synod.

Our Beliefs

A tradition centered on Christ.

Trinity Lutheran is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). We confess the Triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — and proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Our worship follows the historic pattern of the Church: we gather together, encounter God’s Word, share Holy Communion each week, and are commissioned to serve the world.
